However, after all of that focus on DOOM Eternal’s mastery of the first-person genre, some players have tweaked the program a bit in order to pull the perspective out and turn the game into a third-person shooter. The effect has been made using the Cheat Engine in order to pull the camera out of its normal position and place it behind the player.

While the third-person view is only obtainable using a Cheat Engine, similar to DOOM Eternal’s cut pistol, it doesn’t do much to make the game any easier. In fact, the view obstructs some of the view of combat, although it does give a uniquely Souls-like aesthetic to the gameplay. Overall, the effect is almost spooky, as the new view gives a strange new look at some of the more brutal animations from the game.

While the third-person view certainly can’t be suggested for anyone’s initial playthrough, it can add a little extra challenge for anyone looking to test their skills against the strongest demons DOOM Eternal has to offer. Anyone looking to wrench out anything new they want to pull from the game would do well to check out the Cheat Engine.

DOOM Eternal is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
