Not only did DraQu set what is now the speed run world record for DOOM in less than an hour and a half, but also the gamer actually bested his previous time of exactly an hour and 30 minutes. Interestingly enough, the YouTuber isn’t content to rest on his laurels, for in the description for the clip on his page, the speedrunner writes that he plans to improve with an even faster playthrough somewhere down the line.
As seen in the video below, DraQu manages to go sub 90 minutes with impeccable aim to take down DOOM’s myriad monsters and demons, while also maintaining a preternatural understanding of the game’s maps thanks to countless hours of practice. As a matter of fact, one might even compare his insane rates of speed to that of the branded Indy 500 car bearing the shooter’s name.

Of course, with DraQu blazing through the single player campaign, he doesn’t have a moment to spare when it comes to combing the game’s hellish levels for collectibles or Easter eggs. Plus, rather than waste precious seconds on the clock with the wonderful, yet gruesomely animated executions in DOOM dubbed Glory Kills, the YouTuber is content to simply run and gun his way to the finish line.
With DraQu having now set the standard for the fastest record for beating DOOM yet, perhaps rather than just focusing on shaving off milliseconds for another assault on the campaign, he should up the ante with an additional handicap of some kind. With that in mind, maybe putting the game on Ultra Nightmare—that is, the game’s hardest difficulty level—will give him an extra challenge as he tries to speed run through near-invincible enemies while taking even more lethal doses of damage.
