Call of Duty: Warzone launched in 2019 shortly after the release of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot from Infinity Ward as a new free-to-play battle royale option. The original version saw matches of up to 150 players, either running solo or in teams, drop into the city of Verdansk and try to survive to be the last one standing, though eliminated players had a chance to earn their way back into the match by winning a 1v1 in the gulag. Warzone evolved with the subsequent releases of Black Ops: Cold War and Vanguard, most notably adding Rebirth Island and Caldera as alternate map options.

As mentioned above, the end of April saw the start of the limited-time event and Godzilla vs. Kong crossover Operation Monarch. The event saw some changes to Caldera to go along with the event, Godzilla vs. Kong-themed cosmetic packs, and the two titular monsters causing havoc on Caldera during active matches. Dr Disrespect made it clear on Twitter that he was not a fan of this event, though, saying it was a “2.2/10” and implying the event was specifically meant for young children.

This kind of criticism is nothing new for Dr Disrespect, who has never been shy about sharing his feeling about Call of Duty during his career as a content creator. Many viewers would argue his outspoken nature played a big part in him growing such a large following, though it can also be argued this may have played a part in his permanent ban from Twitch, something which still hasn’t been revealed publicly.

Dr Disrespect’s doesn’t appear to be the only one criticizing the event, though, as other Warzone players have echoed his criticism in replies to his original tweet. A common criticism of Operation Monarch is while the visuals of Kong and Godzilla on the island are impressive, they add little to the match other than making it more difficult for players, and the monsters don’t directly interact.

Call of Duty: Warzone is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
