In a recent stream, Dr Disrespect said he was considering an extended break from streaming on YouTube. He mentions leaving not just for a week or even a month, but for as long as a year or two. Dr Disrespect would spend this time hard at work rather than resting. He’d invest the time in the ongoing development of his game at Midnight Society. Two years is the window that Dr Disrespect expects the “full, complete” game to be made.

Midnight Society, Dr Disrespect’s gaming studio, is currently working on what’s described as a “community-focused” online multiplayer shooter. Little regarding the game itself has been revealed, but there’s already been a heavy marketing push for the game, which is known as Project Moon. The other, more controversial aspect of Project Moon is that it will employ an NFT-based monetization system, which Midnight Society has already begun selling despite having no game to show as of yet.
Before anyone leaps to the assumption that Dr Disrespect will be leaving YouTube anytime soon, it’s more than likely his comments were simply part of his typical in-character discourse. Dr Disrespect is currently going through an on-stream story where he’s frustrated with not having any games to play. While that statement is likely halfway kayfabe and half honesty, his threat to leave YouTube likely doesn’t have teeth behind it.
What Dr Disrespect is more than likely doing is using his platform to continue drawing attention to Midnight Society and its upcoming game. Without the attention that Dr Disrespect is bringing to Project Moon via streaming, it starts to become one of many NFT games in development rather than Dr Disrespect’s multiplayer game.
With that said, it’s entirely possible that Dr Disrespect is truly unhappy with streaming at YouTube for the time being and is looking for an opportunity to step away. All fans of Dr Disrespect’s YouTube stream can do is wait and see whether this is a growing sentiment. Don’t be too surprised if it’s just an offhand comment that doesn’t go anywhere, like Dr Disrespect’s many threats to quit various games over the years.
