Back in December 2021, Dr Disrespect, together with former Call of Duty and Halo developers and several others, launched a AAA gaming studio dubbed Midnight Society. The studio is said to be working on a PvP online multiplayer game from scratch via Unreal Engine 5. Over the past months, Midnight Society has been building its team with more development roles opening up according to the website. Recently, the studio teased an “Arena Takeover” update on its project on March 15. Now, Midnight Society has released its exclusive Founders Pass NFTs as it prepares to set the stage for its upcoming game.

As per the studio website, exclusive benefits of the Founders Pass include:

One-of-a-kind Midnight Society call sign and fully owned VisorCortex (avatar used in Midnight Society) Early access to game builds and weapons tests Voting rights on game features Exclusive access to studio events First dibs on merchandise and future VisorCortex drops Early access to Industry Guilds

These Founders Passes will be priced at $50 capping at 10,000 unique passes. One of the most notable perks gives players access to early game builds. According to former Call of Duty Creative Strategist, now Midnight Society CEO and Co-founder Robert Bowling, anyone with a Founders Pass will be able to download early builds, “long before the game is playable in the traditional sense.” Midnight Society mentions that the studio is currently planning to support Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PC. So players with the pass can presumably download and play on these platforms.

Furthermore, this will grant voting rights that let fans cast their votes on key decisions and feature prioritization during the development of the game. The list of perks also mentions early access to “Industry Guilds.” This is where the Founders Pass will allow holders into exclusive guilds that “run all the in-universe manufacturing of weapons, mercenaries, and cosmetics used by Claws in the Midnight Society.” Those interested can now apply for a Founders Pass, though approval will be dependent on a few factors including the member’s duration and active participation in the Midnight Society community.

NFTs have been making the waves in the gaming industry as of late with several gaming companies looking to jump on the trend. However, cases like Ubisoft’s mostly failed NFT initiative reflect a largely negative perception by the gaming community. While time will tell how Dr Disrespect and Midnight Society’s NFT-based system will pan out, the implementation around the technology is sure to pique the interest of gamers.
