Nintendo and Cygames had revealed earlier this year that Dragalia Lost would be shutting down in 2022, with its final content update set for July. Now, a new update from Nintendo has officially confirmed the game will shut down on November 29th, 2022. The update came alongside the shuttering of purchases for the game’s premium currency ending at the same time as the post was made. Dragalia Lost’s Upgrade Essentials and Packs will continue to be purchasable in-game until the end of October, ending on October 31st.

Dragalia Lost’s closure in November will come just over four years after the game launched in September 2018 to modest success. The mobile action RPG had earned $60 million worldwide just four months after its launch, later seeing multiple crossovers with major franchises like Persona 5 and Monster Hunter. While seeing largely mixed reviews from critics, Dragalia Lost was nominated for the 2018 D.I.C.E. Awards’ “Portable Game of the Year.” The game’s previously mentioned final update came on July 24th, adding the second part of Dragalia Lost’s 26th story chapter.
Dragalia Lost’s end of service announcement saw many fans taking to the replies hoping to see Dragalia Lost’s cast featured in another Cygames property. Cygames’ flagship title Granblue Fantasy often features collaborations with other Cygames-developed games like Princess Connect: ReDive. The mobile and browser-based RPG also has a wide roster of crossover characters included, with characters from popular games like Final Fantasy 11 and anime like One Piece added to the game.
Nintendo has seen significant success with many of its other mobile games based on its first-party franchises. Nintendo’s mobile Pikmin game, Pikmin Bloom, passed 2 million downloads in less than a month following the game’s launch. Fire Emblem Heroes has remained one of the top-grossing mobile games across both Android and iOS since its launch in February 2017. While Dragalia Lost’s closure will be a sad moment for many fans still playing the game, the game leaves a legacy as Nintendo’s only mobile-original IP.
Dragalia Lost is available now on mobile devices, with service ending on November 29th, 2022.
