The last semi-official word on Dragon Age 4 was that it’s in development for PS5 (and presumably Xbox Series X). Seeing as the Anthem overhaul is likely current-to-cross-gen and Mass Effect 5 is even earlier in development, the fact that EA confirms the the screenshots are from BioWare’s next-gen project all but officially confirms that these screenshots came from the game.

As seen below, these screenshots show a dark but nondescript environment. The one thing making many fans think it is indeed Dragon Age 4 are the clusters of red crystals, which many will recognize as Red Lyrium from the franchise. Red Lyrium was discovered in Dragon Age 2, corrupted the Templars in Dragon Age: Inquisition, and is believed to play a big role in the next game due to the spin-off stories.
For those unaware, while there are tons of clusters like these across Thedas (especially while the Breach was open), it first appeared as a powerful, corrupting idol in Dragon Age 2. This same idol seemingly appears in the first ever teaser of Dragon Age 4, where it sits front and center between Solas and the Dread Wolf depiction. Finally, it is also mentioned by Solas in Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights where he seeks to get it in order to enact his plan.
How Solas’ plan works out and influences the primary antagonist of Dragon Age 4 remains to be seen, and of course, these images could come from another game. However, just on the general art of the screenshots and the red crystalline figures, it would be surprising to see these images turn out to be anything else.
