The Waylanders is a traditional party-based RPG, made with the support of ex-BioWare creative director Mike Laidlaw, who worked on the Dragon Age franchise, Mass Effect, and Jade Empire. The game was Kickstarted in late 2018 and has a tentative release window of late 2020 or early 2021. Early Access will feature just the first of three full acts, a substantial taste of what’s to come.

This first act in The Waylanders will introduce players to the game’s epic fantasy story. Inspired by Celtic history and mythology, The Waylanders starts with the Celts’ first meeting with their gods. Naturally, everything goes wrong, leading to a factional war for the throne and an adventure spanning time.
Players will have their own customized character in The Waylanders to start. The game begins with players picking from one of four races and six classes for their hero. But as the game progresses, players will have access to 30 advanced classes and over 800 different skills. After starting the game, players will flesh out their party with fully-realized companions, each with their owns stories, dialogue, loyalty missions, and romances, too.
Expect to hear more about this Dragon’s Age: Origins and Baldur’s Gate-inspired RPG in the months to come.
The Waylanders launches June 16 in Early Access on PC.
