Yet, even though they knew a sequel was coming, BioWare didn’t stop working on their baby. This would include The Stone Prisoner DLC, content which would give players new areas to explore and, most importantly, a new character to join the party. Shale’s gruff demeanor and astounding history made fans fall in love with her. The only trick was making her love players back, and these were the best gifts for making that happen.

11 Remarkable Amethyst

The Qunari are a mysterious group (thus why fan theories seem to abound about them), but thankfully one doesn’t need to visit Par Vollen to get ahold of the Remarkable Amethyst. It’s sold in Orzammar, by a dwarf named Alimar in Dust Town.

10 Remarkable Diamond

One might be grateful that a stick-in-the-mud like Shale didn’t make it around to seeing all of the purely humorous quests in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Still, her disposition does lighten up a bit when she gets a Remarkable Diamond. Players can find this gift sold by Garin, the merchant in the Orzammar Commons, just outside of the Diamond Quarter.

9 Remarkable Emerald

Shale’s been around for unfathomable amounts of time, so when the Grey Wardens are meeting characters that match their zodiac signs, she likely precedes the era when the zodiac was even a concept. That might look like she is an outsider to the rest of the cast, but a Remarkable Emerald will make her feel right at home. Find one being sold by Figor, who owns a shop in the Orzammar Commons.

8 Remarkable Topaz

The Tevinter Imperium might be a thing of the past, but gamers will have to wait until Dragon Age 4 before all of their secrets are uncovered. This empire once possessed untold treasures and magical instruments. Thankfully, they weren’t able to bury Shale’s Remarkable Topaz in time. It’s being sold by Faryn, a human merchant and looter just outside of the gates to Orzammar.

7 Remarkable Greenstone

It’s too bad Shale didn’t get to meet the Dread Wolf. She’d have seen right through his trickery and would have been able to add on to the pile of hilarious memes about him. She’s probably just enjoying her Remarkable Greenstone. Though the stone is next to Shale in the village of Honnleath, it’s not easy to obtain. A shade has the gem and it has to be killed and looted.

6 Remarkable Malachite

One might be looking for traces of Shale in Tevinter Nights to see what that will mean for the next Dragon Age game. Whether or not Shale is present in the future of the series remains to be seen, but wherever she is, she’s happy with her Remarkable Malachite. Players will have to make a trip to the quartermaster in the Circle Tower to get ahold of this beauty.

5 Remarkable Ruby

The location of Shale is one of the great mysteries that must be addressed in Dragon Age’s next installation. Another mystery is how this unique gift managed to somehow duplicate. Careful adventurers will be able to find two Remarkable Rubies, one sold by Alarith in the Elven Alienage and another looted off of a dead alpha ogre in the Cadash Thaig.

4 Remarkable Sapphire

It shouldn’t be a surprise that so many of the jewels that Shale loves have found their way into the hands of the dwarves, being the underground inhabitants that they are. Thankfully, none of them seem to be charging a fortune as it would make Shale very unhappy to not get ahold of the Remarkable Sapphire. Find this gift being sold by Legnar in Orzammar’s Commons area.

3 Sugar Cake

Despite that stony exterior, even Shale has a spot for a tasty treat. While gems are usually her absolute favorite thing, gems have diminishing returns when given as gifts. After all, one can’t buy a lady’s love with gifts alone. However, Shale never tires of the Sugar Cake and that will net five points toward the relationship every time this snack is given to her. Best of all, they’re sold by Bodahn Feddic in the main campsite and he never runs out of them. So for ten silver apiece, players can buy their way to Shale’s heart.

2 Thoughtful Gift

Whatever magic Bodahn is doing by making each manufactured piece of identical-looking gifts appear straight from the heart, he should continue doing so. Much like the Sugar Cake, Shale never tires of receiving a Thoughtful Gift. Who would? These are slightly more expensive, going for fifteen silver apiece. However, the amount of benefit to the relationship from each of these is ten and it does not diminish, making this a flat-out upgrade over every other gift on the list except for one.

1 Pet Rock

The best things in life really are free. Shale fully agrees with this sentiment. As a reward for being such a fantastic customer and letting him and Sandal stay at the Warden’s camp, Bodahn Feddic is giving away a Pet Rock for free. And, for not even a single copper coin, the Pet Rock, when given to Shale, will result in a whopping fifty relationship points. That’s a huge amount of approval.

What’s more, the Pet Rock actually stays around as a functional item after it has been gifted. Shale will throw “Herbet” (the name can be changed later) on the ground. Players can give it back and watch the fun interaction time and time again.
