Like the rest of the Evanuris, a lot of theories have sprung up around the motivations and nature of Mythal. Besides the information Solas shared, it was also revealed that Mythal is a part of Flemeth. At the end of Dragon Age: Inquisition, it looks like Flemeth willingly gives Solas some energy, and many fans think that was the power of Mythal.

Mythal, According To The Dalish
To the Dalish, Mythal was the female counterpart of Elgar’nan. While Elgar’nan was the god of vengeance, she stood for love and justice. It is believed that Mythal was born from the ocean and was able to calm Elgar’nan down when he banished the sun, convincing him to free it back into the sky. She is also credited for creating the moon.
Andruil, Sylaise, Dirthamen, Falon’Din, and sometimes June are believed to be Mythal and Elgar’nan’s children. The Dalish invoke the goddess’ name whenever they need protection, as it is believed Mythal righted wrongs through kindness. However, there are other legends that paint Mythal as vengeful. Dalish have a vallislin for Mythal, which is detected as vein-like branches on the face. The Dalish believe Mythal shared the same fate as the rest of her kind, being sealed away by the trickery of the Dread Wolf.
Mythal As an Evanuris
In Dragon Age: Inquisition, players learned more about Mythal beyond what the Dalish teach. It was revealed that Mythal, along with the rest of the elven pantheon, was a powerful mage when they were a part of a Thedas. Unlike the other Evanuris though, Mythal genuinely cared for people and was a voice of reason. The rest of the Evanuris are said to have enslaved others and started wars over vanity and pride.
During the quest “What Pride Had Wrought,” the Inquisitor gets an inside look at Mythal’s temple and the ancient elves who still oversee it. Through the temple, it is learned that ancient priests working under Mythal passed on their knowledge through the Well of Sorrows. In the codex entry, “The Judgement of Mythal,” history describes that elves would petition Mythal to any matter of justice. Mythal had the ability to see if their justice was truly righteous or an act of pettiness, and could protect those with good hearts.
Codices reveal many stories of Mythal as an Evanuris. There is one where she avoids an entire civil war between Falon’Din and Elgar’nan by suggesting knights battle in their stead. Solas also tells a story of Mythal rallying the gods against Falon’Din when he began wars to be worshipped further. In a codex on Andruil, it is said that Mythal cured Andruil’s madness by stealing her knowledge of the Void. Even the Deep Roads has codices of Mythal, describing her as having struck down titans.

Mythal In Relation To Solas and Flemeth
Through Solas it is learned that Mythal was murdered, and Flemeth adds that she was betrayed - and not by Fen’Harel as the Dalish believe. Abelas said that she was betrayed by the same people who destroyed her temple. In Trespasser, Solas says the Evanuris killed Mythal because they wanted her power, and that was the final straw that made him decide to banish them as the Dread Wolf.
There are many hints that the Dread Wolf and Mythal were very close, either friends or lovers. Mythal statues are often accompanied by Dread Wolf statues. Her Well of Sorrows also knows the secret greeting that only those who Fen’Harel trusted would know. This is further proved by how Flemeth treats Solas when they are alone together, as one would an old friend.
How Flemeth got the soul of Mythal is still shrouded in mystery, but it’s known the wisp came to Flemeth in her time of need. If legends are to be believed, Flemeth may have called a spirit to help her get revenge for being tricked by a man named Conobar. The spirit that answered her call was Mythal, and Flemeth said both were betrayed in similar ways, and that is how they connected. She wants what Mythal wants, to “seek justice for what was lost.”
By the end of Inquisition, Flemeth and Solas exchange some words after Flemeth sends something through an eluvian. Solas absorbs power from Flemeth, and Flemeth appears to die. It is unknown whether Solas got the soul of Mythal from Flemeth or if Flemeth sent Mythal’s soul through the mirror. There is also the possibility that Flemeth send an old god soul through the eluvian (which she can get from Kieran, depending on player choices).
Mythal and Dragons
Mythal’s biggest symbol is a dragon. Her statues are often a chimera mixing a female human and a dragon. Flemeth has the power to turn into a high dragon, which now most fans believe stems from her possession of Mythal’s soul. If the Inquisitor chooses to drink from the Well of Sorrows, they can receive a dragon ally. If Morrigan drinks from the well, she gets the ability to turn into a dragon herself. Solas’ final and unfinished mural in Skyhold has a wolf and a dragon, seeming to symbolize him and Flemeth’s meeting. The dragon appears to have been killed, just as Flemeth was when she gave Solas her energy.
