Uchida’s Dragon Ball merchandise collection is made up of 10,098 items, the Guinness World Records team has confirmed. From a lifesize statue of Son Goku, to a Super Saiyan Goku wig and shelves upon shelves of smaller figures, Uchida’s extensive collection makes everyone else’s merch collections look small fry in comparison. However, the giant Dragon Ball fan says that it wasn’t easy to collect all of the merch, explaining that “I quit my job to attempt this record.”

The Dragon Ball collector says that he has loved the Dragon Ball series since he was a child and that Son Goku’s voice helped him to overcome his fear of ghosts. Uchida has been collecting the merchandise from gacha machines since he was in high school. It may be difficult to comprehend for some, given that there are now several Dragon Ball games and series, but Uchida says that the series wasn’t always so popular. He was embarrassed and didn’t want people to know that he liked Dragon Ball and so would go to a different neighborhood to play the gacha games and get more merch.

Uchida’s collection also features a room just for Son Goku figurines. The Dragon Ball collector has more than 4,000 of the Goku figures, with plush dolls, Super Saiyan Goku, and Gokus in different poses all being seen in the video. Dragon Ball characters like Piccolo and Gohan may be incredibly popular but they don’t have their own room in Uchida’s house and there’s no question of who the collector’s favorite character is.

With the popularity of the Dragon Ball games, which are helping people learn about Dragon Ball Z, Uchida may soon have some major competition from new and ambitious fans. However, it’s unlikely that Uchida will be undeterred and he will probably do what can to keep hold of his Guinness World Record. Uchida’s goal is to meet Masako Nozawa, the actress who voices Son Goku, and getting the Guinness World Record for the largest Dragon Ball merch collection is a way to get on Nozawa’s radar.
