Haruki Satomi, Sega’s Digital Business VP, seems pretty enthusiastic about the games and had the following to say.
I don’t mind Bass Fishing, but I doubt a lot of you were staying awake at night hoping for that announcement. Space Channel 5: Part 2 on the other hand is a decent offering that fans will surely be satisfied with, but what will be even more interesting will be to see if Michael Jackson’s cameo in the game will remain intact – bring on Space Michael. The King of Pop voiced Space Micheal in Space Channel 5: Part 2 and actually had a pretty big role in the game. I suppose it’s up to Jackson’s estate at this point, although I don’t see why they would have a problem with a cameo that he chose to have while he was still alive.
These games aren’t awful choices from the Dreamcast lineage, but there are others that really should be coming out before them. Sonic Adventure 2, Jet Set Radio, and Shenmue are on the top of my list, so I hope we get word on those titles soon. We’re still waiting on Crazy Taxi’s release too, so Sega better get a move on and fill our current gen consoles with old-school goodness because we can’t wait any longer!
These “digitally re-mastered classics”, as Sega calls them, are set to hit virtual shelves in early 2011 and will probably run you $10 (800 MS Points) in a similar fashion to Sonic Adventure.
What do you guys think about these Dreamcast games being brought back to life? What Dreamcast games do you want Sega to revisit?
